Going to Russia!

Hey global nomads!
If you're up for some exploration in Russia (St Petersburg particularly), my darling friend Natasha has started up a project to attract more of us young explorers to Russia to bridge the emerging political divide between that country and the West.
Check it out at: http://imaginerussia.com/

Natasha's the one of the left-most in that photo on the homepage (as at the time of this post) -- she's great, one of the best social organisers we had in the group in Vienna in 2004-2005! ... and she's happy to converse with you in English, German or Russian (naturally)... I think also her Polish is pretty good now from all the Polish friends we met in Austria!

So, I guess it's the next step after being an AIESEC trainee, to explore new countries in a similar way, with a local guide... Now I've just got to figure out how to get back up to the Northern hemisphere from New Zealand!

Cheers, Heath :-)

Fleeting update!

Devrim & Tee have both made me realise that I've totally buried myself in work and forgotten to update my blog in aaaages!

So... I promise to upload some more photos shortly and make a bigger update soon. I've been working as Marketing Manager at Endace since January and loving it!

Claire's moving back from France to Auckland (New Zealand for you international nomads that havn't visited our beautiful isles) shortly too -- can't wait! :-D

Exploring Washington DC :)

It was the *perfect* day for sightseeing today! Sun shining, people out enjoying the parks, light traffic (and relatively easy parking). It was my first time in DC so I had to do the toursity things... International Spy Museum with a WW2 German Enigma machine included! How do you like my crazy hair in this shot?? ;-) Posted by Picasa

Why can't Heath stay still for even one second?!?

Soo... looking back through these photos, I realise that I've become really quite nomadic. This may sound glamourous, but believe me, after the 10th hotel where you're living out of a suitcase and can't even use the gym because you forgot your sneakers, you get over it.

No seriously, I'm really enjoying my new job. AHA! That's why he's bouncing around more than usual!! In a word, "Yeah". I'm contracting to Endace Systems at the moment, with the hope of joining them full-time come January. This is a company that spun out of my old University in Hamilton, so it's really neat to be working for one of New Zealand's stars, and to meet up again with people I met in Uni and who are now working there. :-))

Wasn't the plan to move to Paris with Claire?? Well yeah, that would've been waaay too easy though. You know how I like to be difficult! ;-P
I've gotta do something about this though... it'd be really nice to:
A) have a place to be based out of, and;
B) share that place with my darling.
I wonder how long it'll take for me to drive her nuts after we do that?? Claire, what's your guess? ;-)

It was great getting back to New Zealand for a few weeks to meet my new team, and catch up with Mum & Dad, my brothers, and Claire's parents hey. :-)

Anyway, the trip through Asia was great! It was my first time in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea, so I enjoyed just walking around soaking up the sights and sounds... (and capturing a few sights with my new camera I picked up in HK), and trying some of the local fare.
Favourite food from this trip: Korean BBQ with loads of Kimchi and various other strange items including cow's blood soup. (Eeew! That tastes so good even though you know how bad it sounds!) :-S

I'll be on the East coast (near Washington DC) for this coming week, and then back to NZ via SF. See you somewhere in between?

Cheers, Heath.

Whirlwind trip of Asia!

Hey people! How's it going??
I'm over in Reston (Virginia, near Washington DC), having just completed a whirlwind trip through Asia for work followed by a meeting in San Francisco... I slept in until 1.15pm today to catch up :-S
It's been a blast so far! I uploaded some more photos in the usual place from Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, and Tokyo... and there'll be some more to come tomorrow after I go for an explore into DC. :-)
Cheers, Heath.  Posted by Picasa

HUGE lot of photos uploaded! :)

Hey all! I've finally got around to uploading a whole bunch of photos from the past 3 months, at the usual place. Looking back through these makes me realise what an amazing past quarter it's been, and how much I miss Claire now that I'm back at the other end of the planet from her (sniff) :'( (More on that in a coming post ASAP). Cheers, Heath.
